I’m glad you came to the realization that Dr. Who is really only a TV-series, and that you decided to stop depending on it. It takes courage to let go of crutches, no matter what those crutches are!

It’s a bit of a long story. Let’s just say that I was already down emotionally, and the shock of regeneration scene (but NOT the fact that Tennant was regenerating) upset me hugely, at a time when that was absolutely the last thing that I needed.

The fact that producers felt the need to shock fans like this, left me feeling betrayed and hurt. Again, without going into great detail, Dr Who was basically all I’ve had to cling to, to keep me going for the past two years. I stupidly had this trust in some TV show, that I could always count on it to make me feel better.

When I realized what a stupid fool I’d been, using a TV show as an emotional crutch, and letting it upset me to the point where I stayed up all night, crying…I knew it was time to distance myself from it…which meant to stop watching it so much (on DVD), and to stop writing Dr Who fan fiction.
